Bassist Jack Helsley is an active performer on the Indianapolis music scene. After receiving a Bachelors Degree in Music from the University of Louisville, he toured extensively throughout Europe, Africa and the U.S. with the United States Air Force Band. As a freelance bassist, he has been featured on numerous recordings of jazz, pop, rock, and country artists, and has performed with such notable talents as Michael Brecker, Jeff Watts, Joey Calderazzo, Randy Brecker, Benny Golsen, Ernie Watts, Bob Berg, Lynne Arriale, David Baker and Jamey Aebersold. He holds a Master of Music degree in Jazz Studies from Indiana University, and is currently a member of the Buselli/Wallarab Jazz Orchestra and the Frank Glover/Claude Sifferlin Quartet. He is a Professor of Bass and Jazz Studies at DePauw University, Professor of Jazz Studies at University of Indianapolis, and host of the Radio Show “Have You Heard” on WICR-FM.
